Geothermal Heating & Cooling

The Most Efficient Way to Heat and Cool Your Home

Geothermal heating and cooling systems utilize the stable temperatures found beneath the earth’s surface to provide exceptional comfort, dependability and energy efficiency throughout the year. Unlike conventional systems that must work against constantly changing outdoor temperatures, geothermal systems draw renewable energy from the ground to provide heating in the winter, cooling in the summer, and even domestic hot water assistance.

At Lawrence Air Systems, we are one of the few who specialize in the design, installation, replacement, and maintenance of geothermal systems, with particular expertise in Direct Exchange (DX) geothermal technology—one of the most efficient and innovative geothermal solutions available today.

What Is Geothermal Heating & Cooling?

Geothermal systems transfer heat between your home and the earth using an underground ground loop. Because underground temperatures remain relatively stable throughout the year, geothermal systems can operate more seamlessly than conventional heating and cooling equipment.

Why We Believe in Direct Exchange Geothermal

A More Direct Path to Comfort

Most geothermal systems use water or antifreeze solutions circulating through underground piping to transfer heat between the earth and the heat pump.

Direct Exchange (DX) geothermal systems eliminate the intermediate water loop entirely.

Instead, environmentally responsible refrigerant circulates directly through buried copper ground loops, allowing heat to transfer directly between the earth and the geothermal unit.

This direct transfer process can improve efficiency while reducing system complexity.

Advantages of Direct Exchange Geothermal Systems

Because heat transfer occurs directly between the refrigerant and the earth, DX systems avoid some of the efficiency losses associated with traditional water-source geothermal systems.

Geothermal Heating

Unlike air-source heat pumps that must extract heat from cold outdoor air, geothermal systems draw energy from the relatively stable temperatures below the earth’s surface.

This allows geothermal systems to:

  • Maintain high efficiency during cold weather
  • Deliver consistent comfort
  • Reduce reliance on supplemental heating
  • Lower winter energy costs

Geothermal Cooling

During cooling mode, geothermal systems transfer heat from your home into the cooler ground temperatures below.

Benefits include:

  • Highly efficient cooling
  • Lower electricity usage
  • Excellent humidity control
  • Consistent indoor comfort
  • Quiet operation

Domestic Hot Water Assistance

Many geothermal systems can also contribute to domestic hot water production through a desuperheater or integrated hot water generation system.

Benefits include:

  • Reduced water heating costs
  • Improved overall system efficiency
  • Additional energy savings year-round

Proper Design Matters

Like any comfort system, geothermal performance depends heavily on proper design and installation.

At Lawrence Air Systems, we evaluate:

  • Property size and layout
  • Soil conditions
  • Heating and cooling loads
  • Building insulation levels
  • Domestic hot water requirements
  • Available installation space

Is Geothermal Right for Your Home?

Geothermal may be an excellent solution if you:

  • Plan to remain in your home long-term
  • Want to reduce energy costs
  • Value environmental sustainability
  • Desire exceptional comfort
  • Are building a new home
  • Are undertaking a major renovation
  • Need to replace an aging HVAC system
  • Have suitable property conditions for loop installation
