In 1973 John and Joanne Lawrence had good jobs that provided stability to their home in Barrington, Rhode Island. With 2 young boys and another on the way, they decided to walk away from the security of those jobs and step into the uncertainty of starting something new, Lawrence Air Systems, Inc.
Both in their early 20’s, you might be speculating to believe that they had a well thought out and executed plan in place for this new chapter of their lives. Instead, you can imagine like most new entrepreneurs having a particular skillset and a will to survive, they worked on “building this plane in the air”. What they did know for certain, upon that leap of faith, was that they wanted to create something that would provide a fruitful future for themselves, their children and their future children. Family- That was what it was all about for the Lawrences- the ability to forge a path to provide, while having the ability as a parent to be and remain present.
